Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Cytotechnologist to examine and interpret gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens accurately and efficiently in accordance with established laboratory procedures. This role supports diagnostic accuracy and patient safety through high-quality cytological evaluation and reporting.
The position requires collaboration with pathologists and healthcare teams to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic outcomes while maintaining strict compliance with laboratory standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Examine and interpret gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens
Issue final diagnoses for negative GYN cytology cases
Submit non-GYN results for pathologist review and final reporting
Verify specimen acceptability and patient identification throughout processing
Maintain QC, proficiency testing, and CLIA/DHMH compliance documentation
Assist with fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures and slide preparation
Prepare and stain cytology slides for evaluation
Input test requests and results into Cerner accurately
Maintain confidentiality and data integrity in all reporting processes
Communicate effectively with pathologists, nurses, and healthcare teams
Participate in continuing education and technical skill development
Job Requirements
Bachelor s degree in Life Sciences, Medical Technology, or related field
1 3 years of cytology or related clinical laboratory experience
ASCP Cytotechnologist certification (or equivalent) required
Strong understanding of cytology specimen evaluation and laboratory procedures
Knowledge of QC, proficiency testing, and regulatory compliance standards (CLIA/DHMH)
Experience using Cerner or similar laboratory information systems preferred
Ability to work accurately in a high-volume diagnostic laboratory environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with healthcare professionals
