Description:
The Division of Community Health Services is seeking a Clinical Dental Hygienist.
This role involves performing clinical dental hygiene duties in a public health facility.
The Dental Hygienist is responsible for conducting routine dental hygiene procedures such as prophylaxis, debridement, scaling and root planning, and administering local anesthesia.
Fluoride varnish and SDF application, as well as sealant placement, will be performed according to department protocols.
Oral cancer screenings and oral health assessments including periodontal evaluations and screenings are required.
The Dental Hygienist will apply desensitizing agents and antimicrobial agents to treat dental sensitivity and periodontal infections.
Taking dental X-rays for diagnostic purposes is essential, along with disinfecting the operatory and sterilizing instruments after each patient treatment.
Management and maintenance of equipment and supplies, such as autoclave and ultrasonic cleaner, is expected.
The role includes providing appropriate post-treatment education for patients.
Educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices and the link between oral health and overall health is a key responsibility.
Daily productivity goals must be met according to established guidelines.
Prioritizing tasks and individual efficiency is important for achieving identified goals for encounters and Relative Value Units.
Documenting patient information in accordance with standards of care is required.
Completing patient dental health records, both electronic and paper, is part of the role.
Collaboration with dentists on treatment plans and referrals is necessary.
Identifying and providing referrals for patients with urgent dental needs is also required.
Providing guidance on tobacco cessation, nutritional counseling, and HPV vaccination promotes overall health.
Supporting fluoridation programs and other population-wide dental health strategies is expected.
