Description:
The Division of Community Health Services is seeking a Clinical Dental Hygienist.
This role involves performing clinical dental hygiene duties in a public health facility.
Applicants should be customer-focused, self-motivated, and team-oriented.
Willingness to travel throughout the region is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Performs routine dental hygiene procedures such as prophylaxis, debridement, scaling and root planing, and local anesthesia administration.
Applies fluoride varnish and silver diamine fluoride, and places sealants according to department protocols.
Conducts oral cancer screenings and oral health assessments, including periodontal evaluations.
Applies desensitizing agents to treat dental sensitivity.
Administers antimicrobial agents to treat periodontal infections.
Takes dental X-rays for diagnostic purposes.
Disinfects the operatory and sterilizes instruments after each patient treatment.
Assists in the management and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Provides post-treatment education for patients.
Educates patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care.
Documents patient information according to standards of care.
Completes patient dental health records in both electronic and paper formats.
Collaborates with dentists on treatment plans and referrals.
Identifies patients with urgent dental needs and provides referrals.
Offers guidance on tobacco cessation, nutritional counseling, and vaccinations.
Supports community fluoride programs and other dental health strategies.
Ensures daily productivity goals align with established guidelines.
Manages priorities efficiently to meet goals for patient encounters and values.
