Job Title: Clinical Technician, Dialysis Profession: Clinical Technician Specialty: - Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 4 AM - 2:30 PM and 9 AM - 7:30 PM Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: - Certifications: BLS and CCHT Must-Have: - Ability to monitor patients on an ongoing basis. - Ability to communicate information to the appropriate team member. - Willingness to respond in emergency situations. - Competency in documenting patient care and observations. - Commitment to following infection control policies and procedures. Description: Under supervision of nursing staff, responsible for the monitoring and direct care of patients on hemodialysis. Monitors patients on an ongoing basis. Communicates pertinent information to the appropriate team member. Responds in emergency situations. Reinforces education to patients. Documents patient care and observations, such as flow sheets and incidents. Follows operational activities specific to assigned unit. Treats patients and families with respect and dignity. Reports to work in designated attire and maintains proper hygiene. Communicates with other departments, agencies, or service organizations. Functions as part of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrates ability to plan work activities. Carries out doctors' orders within parameters of role. Helps minimize waste in assigned unit. Monitors and adjusts dialysis therapy within scope of practice to meet the needs of the patient. Serves as a resource referral for the patient. Demonstrates problem-solving methodologies for the benefit of patients and the patient care area. Maintains a neat and safe work area. Demonstrates technical and task-oriented skills, including cannulation and machine setup. Administers normal saline solution and anticoagulants under the delegation of the Medical Director and nursing supervision. Performs blood drawing procedures. May be required to take on-call in acute settings. Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a complex and changing environment. Completes all required in-services and online education relevant to position. Acts in a manner that demonstrates commitment to the organization’s mission and values. Adheres rigorously to infection control and prevention requirements. Maintains a clean and safe environment. Communicates effectively with team members, including medical leadership as appropriate.
