- Knowledge of medical conditions such as diabetes, renal, stress, cardiac care, critical care, obstetrics, medical/surgical, and long-term care
- Prior clinical, outpatient, and classroom instruction experience is highly preferred
- Community service nutritional experience is highly preferred
Description:
This is a full-time position for a registered dietitian to work in a long-term care and inpatient setting.
Approximately 40% of time worked will be in long-term care, 50% of time worked will be inpatient, and 10% on project improvement or other tasks.
The Registered Dietitian will work cooperatively with dietary management staff to manage and direct all inpatient nutritional services, committees, department meetings, and other clinical responsibilities.
Responsibilities include conducting a comprehensive nutrition assessment for patients identified at nutritional risk, or as deemed necessary per policy or by consult.
The role requires incorporating evidence-based practice when implementing nutrition interventions.
Evaluation of the need for specialized nutrition support and making appropriate recommendations is essential.
The dietitian must appropriately document nutrition assessments in the electronic medical record.
Reassessing the nutrition care process and implementing changes is an ongoing requirement.
The position recognizes the varied needs of age-specific populations, as well as cultural, religious, and ethnic concerns.
The Registered Dietitian will develop and direct the overall nutrition and hydration plan of care for residents.
Evaluation of residents for significant weight changes, new admissions, new or continuing wounds, attending standards of care, care conferences, and meal rounding is required.
The dietitian will prepare the long-term care unit for survey readiness.
Participation in quality improvement projects as needed is expected.
On-call responsibilities include every other weekend, working on-site the Sunday of the employee's on-call weekend.
