Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a DOU/PCU-Telemetry night shift position requiring a CA RN license and 2+ years of relevant experience.

Details

• Works in the Direct Observation Unit (DOU/PCU), primarily med-surg with potential to float to telemetry
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:3 in DOU and 1:5 in ARU
• Every other weekend required (6 weekend days per schedule period), Sunday nights not counted as a weekend
• Mandatory floating to ARU and DOU within scope of practice
• Any charting system experience accepted, Meditech preferred but not required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS
• AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required (hardstop)
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience with PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown and telemetry care
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with pacemakers, post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath, and pre/post cardiac surgery care
• Experience with TAVR and TR Band procedures
• Competency in IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
• Experience with feeding tube care and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
• Pre/post hemodialysis management experience
• Skilled in central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs and administering blood products
• Knowledge of heparin protocols and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with procedural sedation administration/monitoring and thrombolytic agents
• Experience caring for CVA, intracranial bleeds, lumbar drains, and seizure disorder patients
• Pre/post neurosurgery experience
• Skilled in non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and nasal cannula use
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to a med-surg/telemetry population with potential cardiac, neurological, and renal complexities
• Utilize rapid response and code team protocols as needed
• Travel pairs accepted, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
• Former permanent employees must have a 365-day separation from the facility before returning as a traveler
• RTO must be submitted upfront with no exceptions
• First-time travelers may be considered if all clinical criteria are met
