Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry/DOU night shift position requiring 2 years of PCU/telemetry experience and a CA RN license.

Details

• Work in the Direct Observation Unit (DOU/PCU/Telemetry/Stepdown) of a hospital setting
• Primarily Med Surg patients with potential to float to Telemetry
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Nurse to patient ratio in DOU is 1:3
• Nurse to patient ratio in ARU is 1:5
• Every other weekend required, or more depending on department needs (6 weekend days per schedule period)
• Sunday nights are not counted as a weekend shift
• Mandatory floating to ARU and DOU within scope of practice

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS (AHA and Red Cross accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (hardstop)
• Experience with 1:3 patient ratios required
• Charting system experience required (any EMR)
• Prior travel RN experience required
• Skilled in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia management and interpretation, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experience with central, peripheral, and PICC line care/management
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Experience managing cardiac drips, heparin protocols, and procedural sedation
• Experience with pacemakers, post cardiac cath/surgery care, and TAVR/TR Band procedures
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration
• Experience with feeding tube care, CBI, and hemodialysis management
• Experience with neurological conditions including CVA, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, and pre/post neurosurgery care
• Experience with respiratory care including oxygen administration and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care within a PCU/DOU/Telemetry/Stepdown unit
• Manage complex cardiac, neurological, and post-surgical patient needs
• RTO must be submitted upfront with no exceptions
• Travel pairs accepted, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
• Former permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least 365 days before returning as a traveler
• Meditech experience preferred but not required
• First-time travelers may be considered if all other criteria are met
