Job Title: Echo Tech Profession: Echo Tech Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 months Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year required, 2 years preferred License: State Echo Sonographer License Certifications: A.R.D.M.S./CCI registered or registry eligible, BLS certification issued through American Heart Association Must-Have: Ability to communicate effectively Demonstrates strong organizational skills Ability to work collaboratively with others from various disciplines Ability to work at a rapid pace under stressful conditions Manual dexterity to perform echocardiograms Description: Performs diagnostic echocardiograms on adults and pediatric patients. Performs technically proficient 2D, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac exams. Coordinates activities with interrelated departments, including scheduling exams and transporting patients. Assures billing information is accurately entered for payment. Assists cardiologist while dictating exams by preparing and measuring M-modes. Acts as a go-between to deliver and distribute dictations in a timely manner. Responds to patients' needs during exams. Reports changes in patient condition to the physician or nurse in charge. Orders Echo supplies. Keeps rooms clean and neat and supplied as needed. Logs patients and exams and files patient records. Participates in Performance Improvement activities at departmental and hospital-wide levels. Shares responsibility for on-call coverage for echo emergency exams. Maintains quality control of the equipment operation and examinations performed. Coordinates repair services as needed. Keeps current on events and advances in the field of Echocardiography. Seeks advice and mentorship from cardiologists regarding new skills and knowledge. Assists with other cardiac procedures as needed.
