Job Description

Job Title: Echo Tech Profession: Clinical-Allied Specialty: Cardiovascular Non-Invasive Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: Eight hours, Monday to Friday Experience: Minimum three (3) years of applicable experience required. License: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) OR Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) in Echocardiography. Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) required. Must-Have: - Knowledge of patient positioning, breathing techniques, and transducer positioning. - Proficient in recognizing abnormalities in structure and function, and distinguishing normal from abnormal findings. - Knowledge of gross and sectional anatomy. - Fluent in English, including writing, reading, and comprehension. - Basic computer knowledge including word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browsing. Description: Provide high quality ultrasound images of the heart and great vessels for adult patients. Assist with exercise and non-exercise stress testing as required. Perform high quality two-dimensional ultrasound studies of the heart and great vessels, identifying EKG abnormalities and/or arrhythmias. Utilize knowledge of age-specific needs of patients in everyday duties and responsibilities. Demonstrate understanding of imaging and/or Doppler techniques, including their application to specific clinical questions. Employ M-Mode technique for measuring cardiac dimensions at precise times of the cardiac cycle. Estimate severity of valvular insufficiencies by mapping dimensions and orientation of the regurgitant jet with color flow Doppler. Assess blood flow through the heart, including increased velocities, stenosis, regurgitation, and shunts with pulsed and continuous-wave Doppler. Use contrast echocardiography when two-dimensional and color flow are suboptimal. Evaluate left and right ventricular systolic and diastolic functions and document wall motion abnormalities. Recognize common and complex congenital heart malformations and acquired pathologies. Complete studies according to updated protocols, providing additional views, calculations, and measurements as necessary. Correlate clinical history with exams performed and consult with a cardiologist for clarification. Monitor, record, and communicate appropriately utilizing computerized documentation systems. Prepare, instruct, assist patients, and produce images timely for dobutamine and exercise stress echocardiograms. Assist cardiologists in performing transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE). Communicate results to cardiologists and respond to queries in a timely manner. Maintain monthly correlation studies and statistics. Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot and report equipment failures. Participate in mobile echo and vascular services as needed. Assist in functional, pharmacological cardiolite, and echocardiography stress testing. Document procedures correctly and assess patients' physical ability to perform tests accurately. Interpret and clarify physician orders. Provide thorough assessments of patients in crisis, notifying physicians when necessary. Display proficiency in recognizing lethal arrhythmias. Complete quarterly competency in stress lab, Holter monitoring, and event monitoring. Use a segmental approach for obtaining images in four echocardiographic windows: parasternal, apical, subcostal, and suprasternal notch. Operate ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper function of controls to produce interpretable images. Select appropriate transducers to optimize resolution and penetration. Review and document pertinent patient history and clinical data for accurate diagnostic results. Demonstrate proficiency in conducting pediatric echocardiograms, ensuring high-quality imaging and patient care.
