Description:
The Echo Technologist oversees technical procedures, patient care, and workflows in the echocardiography laboratory.
They perform a full range of cardiac diagnostic testing.
They assist performing physicians and sonographers in providing high-quality echocardiographic exams.
The technologist performs routine and complex echocardiographic sonography imaging procedures following departmental guidelines.
They demonstrate acceptable imaging quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors, and alignment.
They review patient data for accuracy, quality, and completeness.
Documentation is completed accurately and completely.
The technologist cross-trains to other divisions of cardiovascular services.
They administer contrast when needed and not contraindicated.
They complete documentation of studies performed and charges in the designated electronic systems, as well as preliminary information for physician reading.
They participate in a rotation of call through the week and on weekends with other team members.
Being team-minded, they provide compassionate care and quality studies to patients.
The technologist performs all forms of echocardiographic testing (exercise stress, dobutamine stress, standard echocardiograms, pediatric echoes, transesophageal echoes) in a timely fashion.
They seek to advance their knowledge in all aspects of echocardiography with an open mind to constructive learning and teaching.
