Job Title: Registered Echo Technologist Profession: Diagnostic Imaging Specialty: Echocardiography Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: One to two years of experience as an echocardiography technician preferred. License: Associate or Bachelor's of Science degree in Vascular/Echocardiography from an accredited institution for cardiac ultrasound or on-the-job training with an associate's degree in Allied Health. Certifications: Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), ARDMS registered cardiac sonographer or registry eligible, and CPR required. Must-Have: 2-D echo with M-Mode, spectral, and color flow Doppler, transesophageal echocardiography, and stress echocardiography. Description: Performs and assists with cardiovascular procedures ordered by physicians to assist in the diagnosis of patients. Carries out the policies and procedures of the department to ensure a high standard of quality of care. Performs other duties as assigned, including assisting the physician and staff with other non-invasive cardiopulmonary procedures. Enhances positive relations with all customers, including patients, families, and staff. Shares knowledge with others, promotes new roles, and assists in staffing needs. Maintains a safe environment to facilitate meeting organizational goals. Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data for diagnosis. Records procedure data in patients' charts and informs physicians of life-threatening test results. Performs cleaning and disinfecting of cardiology equipment and accessories. Participates in preparation and presentation of meetings and quality improvement programs. Supervises and instructs students and precepts new employees. Ensures patient rights are respected and protects patient privacy by adhering to guidelines in the management of patient information. Maintains a neat and safe work area and performs other duties as assigned. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for enhancing positive interactions and diffusing negative situations. Participates in continuously improving quality through collaborative activities. Performs CPR as needed and ensures compliance with safety standards.
