Supervision Exercised: None Essential Interactions: Interacts with patients and their families, collaborates with physicians, nurses and other hospital sta? to develop patient care plans, interacts with other hospital sta? for services, supplies and other related functions. Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure speci?c such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery). Unusual Physical Demands: Pushing the ultrasound machine for portable studies. Positioning the ultrasound transducer in awkward positions for lengthy exams. Equipment, Machines, Tools, Materials and Work Aides: Various types of ultrasound imaging systems, physiologic doppler systems, EKG acquisition machines, computers with speci?c application programs, Holter monitor and stress testing equipment and other such equipment as technology changes. Stethoscopes, sphygmomanometers and other such aides are used. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an approved school of an Allied Health Field with additional training in ultrasound procedures. Must be registered in Adult Vascular and ECHO by either American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). Knowledge of AIC accreditation preferred. JOB KNOWLEDGE: BLS certi?cation is required. Must be knowledgeable of the proper performance of both vascular and cardiac diagnostic testing. The patient populations must be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee. Anatomy of the cardiac and vascular systems is required for ultrasound procedures.
