Job Title: Fetal Cardiac Sonographer Profession: Radiology / Cardiology Specialty: Echo Tech Cardiac Sonographer Pediatrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (08:00 - 16:30) Experience: 2+ years preferred License: Valid State License required Certifications: ARDMS Pediatric (PE) and Fetal Echocardiography (FE) certification Must-Have: Associate's Degree in a related field ARDMS certification in fetal echocardiography (RDCS-FE) Description: The Fetal Cardiac Sonographer performs fetal echocardiography. This position requires specialized skills and competence. The sonographer will utilize high-frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques. Key responsibilities include obtaining, reviewing, and analyzing pertinent patient history and clinical data. The sonographer must prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures. They will differentiate artifacts from normal or pathological processes. Using ultrasound equipment, they will optimize 2D and manipulate 3D images to produce high-quality diagnostic information. The sonographer will provide interpreting physicians with an oral summary of findings. They will analyze data, create preliminary reports, and review results with physicians for final interpretation. Teamwork is essential; sharing knowledge and providing support to team members are expected. The sonographer may assist in teaching new staff and collaborating with physicians. Participation in clinical research related to prenatal cardiovascular disease may be required. The sonographer may prepare and present findings at various forums and meetings. Additionally, they may assist with surgical procedures. This role does not require call or weekend shifts.
