Performs a wide variety of related duties as assigned, including assisting the physician and staff with other non-invasive cardiopulmonary procedures. Carries out the policies and procedures of the department to ensure a high standard of quality of care. Performs other duties as assigned.Customer RelationsWhile performing the above, the employee will enhance positive relations with all customers including but not limited to: patients, families, hospital and medical staff.Team Member Relations and Quality of ServiceThis position will willingly share knowledge with others, promote and support new roles, assist in staffing needs, maintain safe environment, all to facilitate meeting organizational goals.All the duties and standards within this job description will be performed according to the established policies and guidelines outlined in the department and Center policy and procedure manuals. These will be measured through surveys, department goals, peer input, expectation and experience.Job QualificationsEducation: Associate or Bachelors of Science degree in Vascular/Echocardiography from an accredited institution for cardiac ultrasound or on the job training with associates degree in Allied Health.Licensure/Certification/ Credentialing International {CCI}, ARDMS registered cardiac sonographeror registry eligible, and CPR required. to two years of experience as an echocardiography technician preferred, including 2-D echo with M-Mode, spectral, & color flow doppler, transesophageal echocardiography, and stress echocardiography.Job-related knowledge of the clinical interventions and equipment necessary to meet the specific needs of the patient population served. Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures to locate, evaluate and record pertinent anatomical, pathological and functional data for diagnosis. Also performs stress echos, transesophageal echo, 2-D echo with M-mode, color flow, and cardiac doppler.2. Performs cardiovascular diagnostic tests appropriate to particular licensure to include: EKG s, Event Monitor applications, Cardiac Monitor applications, Pulmonary Function Tests, Lower Extremity Doppler Studies, and Stress Testing.3. Records procedure data in patients charts, EMR System, etc., and immediately informs physicians of life threatening test results.4. Performs cleaning, disinfecting, etc. of cardiology equipment and accessories.5. Performs related duties such as supply inventory, clerical duties, transporting patients to and from the department, satisfying telephone inquiries or routing inquiries to proper staff member, assisting cardiovascular staff, logging procedures for billing purposes and special assignments.6. Participates in preparation/presentation of monthly cardiovascular meetings and CQI program.7. Supervise and instruct students.8. Precepts new employees.9. Participates in CQI activities and evaluations.10. Enhances the practice of family centered care and provides individual customer focus and provides service recovery as needed.11. As a representative of the Center, demonstrates responsibility and accountability for enhancing positive interactions and diffusing negative situations.12. Participates in and fosters an approach to continuously improving quality through Six Sigma methodology that includes both intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities.13. Ensures patient rights are respected and protects patient s privacy by adhering to HIPAA guidelines in the management of all patient information.14. Performs CPR as needed.15. Maintains a neat and safe work area.16. Performs other duties as assigned.17.
