Description

American Traveler is hiring an Ultrasound Technologist/Sonographer (Echo) for a busy inpatient echocardiography lab, requiring 5+ years of echocardiography experience and 2+ years in a Trauma 1 acute inpatient setting.

Details

  • Inpatient echocardiography lab at a tertiary care hospital with a Level I trauma center
  • Rotating day shifts including rotating weekends, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (10-hour shifts)
  • 40 hours per week
  • Overnight call 5:30 PM to 6:30 AM, 2-3 nights per month with strict guidelines and cardiologist approval required before being called in
  • Daily workload of 7-8 echocardiograms per day
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • Float policy of 25 miles between facilities as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of echocardiography experience
  • At least 2+ years of acute inpatient echo experience in a Trauma 1 level facility
  • License required if applicable
  • Proficiency in TTEs, stress echocardiograms, and TEEs, with appropriate use of 3D echo and strain imaging
  • In-depth knowledge of complex cardiac anatomy and pathology
  • Expertise in optimizing image quality through scanning technique, equipment settings, and ultrasound contrast agents
  • Ability to manage high-volume workflows in a critical care environment while maintaining diagnostic quality
  • Strong patient care, communication, and time management skills
  • Driver's License required for consideration
  • 2 professional references required

Additional Information

  • Adhere to ASE and IAC standards to ensure compliance with industry best practices and quality benchmarks
  • Maintain strict adherence to lab standards and protocols to ensure consistency and diagnostic accuracy
  • Participate in a collaborative work culture including case reviews, feedback sessions, and educational opportunities with sonographers, cardiologists, and fellows
  • Local candidates are not eligible for renewals or extensions
  • Candidates residing within 90 miles of any MaineHealth facility (Maine or New Hampshire residents) are considered local
  • RTO should be kept to a minimum, with 3-4 days considered reasonable for a 13-week contract at the manager's discretion
  • Candidates who have worked at any MaineHealth facility within the past 12 months should disclose this during consideration
  • Air pods, laptops, and cell phone usage on the unit are prohibited
