Job Details

• Position: Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)
• Setting: Emergency Department Observation Unit within a large Level I Trauma Center
• Location: New Haven, Connecticut
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980 - $2,080
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Charting System: Epic
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:6
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
• Guaranteed Hours: Yes

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut, or the ability to obtain licensure prior to start
• At least 1.5 to 2 years of recent Emergency Room / Emergency Department nursing experience preferred
• Experience in a Level I Trauma Center or similarly high-acuity emergency care setting preferred
• Current ACLS, BLS, TNCC, PALS, ENPC, NIHSS, and CPI certifications preferred or required based on unit needs
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records (EMR) charting preferred
• Strong clinical judgment and comfort caring for 5-6 patients in a fast-paced ER environment
• Ability to work every other weekend and float within scope as needed
• Flu vaccination required; COVID-19 vaccination not required
• Pending Connecticut RN license accepted, with application initiated before start

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in an observation setting
• Assess, monitor, and stabilize patients presenting with urgent and emergent medical conditions
• Support care for trauma, stroke, chest pain, respiratory distress, overdose, psychiatric holds, and other complex emergency presentations
• Administer medications, manage IV therapy, and assist with blood product administration as indicated
• Perform and assist with emergency interventions such as dysrhythmia management, ventilator support, chest tube care, and central line management
• Collaborate with physicians, providers, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members to promote safe, timely patient flow
• Document accurately in Epic and maintain clear communication throughout the plan of care
• Adapt to changing patient needs while contributing to a supportive, high-performance travel nursing team
