Travel RN Job Details

• Position: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)
• Location: New Haven, CT 06510
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks, with opportunities for longer contracts
• Shift: Night shift, 4x12-hour schedule (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,090 - $2,200
• Setting: Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department
• Charting System: Epic
• Orientation: 48 hours
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: May float within scope to other campuses and ED observation
• Guaranteed Hours: Yes

Emergency Department Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Connecticut
• At least 1.5 years of recent emergency nursing experience; 2 years preferred
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Ability to manage a patient ratio of approximately 1:6
• Current ACLS, BLS, TNCC, and other required emergency care certifications
• Experience with Epic preferred
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
• Comfortable working in a high-acuity, fast-moving emergency room environment
• Flu vaccination required

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in the Emergency Department
• Assess, triage, and monitor patients presenting with acute conditions, trauma-related needs, and medical emergencies
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and emergency interventions as indicated
• Support complex care needs including ventilated patients, stroke alerts, chest pain cases, and trauma presentations
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and other interdisciplinary team members
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic
• Float within scope to other ED areas and observation services as needed
• Deliver calm, compassionate care while responding effectively to rapid changes in patient condition
