Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center, requiring 2 years of ED experience and an active AL or compact RN license.

Details

  • High-volume Emergency Department in a hospital setting, treating more than 60,000 patients per year
  • 54-bed, state-designated Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center
  • Serves all age groups across a comprehensive range of emergency medical cases, including critical and trauma patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:1 for critical/trauma patients to 1:3-4 for all other patients
  • Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage required
  • Floating to other units and hospitals is required
  • EMR: Meditech (experience not required)
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active RN license in the state of Alabama or a Compact state required; no temporary or pending licenses accepted
  • No hits (past or current) on nursing license allowed
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year of recent ED experience
  • Experience in a large hospital setting required
  • Trauma experience required
  • Associate degree in nursing required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA or Red Cross), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and TNCC
  • SECURE on-site certification required
  • Active license must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Two professional references from within the last year required
  • Valid driver's license required for consideration
  • Full SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

  • ED team is composed of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff providing 24/7 emergency care
  • On-site competency testing is required for all ED RNs, in addition to an online pre-test
  • Virtual orientation will include competency-based modules; no pre-start HealthStream modules required
  • Timekeeping system: Centricity
  • Scrub color requirement: solid navy
