Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a Level I trauma center requiring combined adult/pediatric ED experience and ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.

Details

  • Work in a 56-bed Emergency Department with an average daily census of 175 patients
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (1900-0730)
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • No floating required outside of scope
  • Open to discussing block schedule requests with the manager
  • Cerner EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required or in application process with an ETA to obtain
  • Minimum 2 years of ED nursing experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC
  • Preferred certifications: NIHSS, NRP, TNS
  • General Emergency Department experience with combined adult/pediatric population required
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required, including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and 12-lead EKG acquisition
  • IV therapy/phlebotomy skills required, including blood product administration, phlebotomy, and IV starts
  • Medication administration skills required, including continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
  • Neurological case experience required, including CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
  • Orthopedic splinting skills required
  • Pediatric case experience required across multiple conditions including abdominal pain, asthma, head injury, infections, poison ingestion, respiratory infections, seizures, and skin disorders
  • Psychiatric case experience required, including acute psychosis, overdose, violent behavior management, and suicidal patients
  • Respiratory case experience required, including chest tube insertion/management and intubation
  • Isolation precautions and triage proficiency required
  • AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted

Additional Information

  • Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility
  • Any solid-colored scrubs permitted
  • Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 days
  • Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
  • Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
