Emergency Room Registered Nurse Requirements

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan
• At least 1 year of professional nursing experience, preferably in an Emergency Department or emergency room setting
• Emergency nursing experience with the ability to care for patients across a broad range of acuity levels
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, including every other weekend and holiday coverage
• Completion of required clinical competency, licensing, background, health, and facility onboarding requirements
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Emergency Department Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Perform rapid nursing assessments and prioritize care for patients presenting with urgent and emergent conditions
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
• Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and escalate concerns promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with provider orders and nursing standards
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, technicians, and other members of the emergency care team
• Provide compassionate patient and family education during stressful and time-sensitive situations
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, responses to treatment, and discharge instructions
• Support a safe, efficient, and patient-centered Emergency Department environment
