Travel Nursing Job Details

- Shift: Evening/night shift, approximately 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, with up to 1:5 for lower-acuity assignments
- Patient Population: Neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
- Department Profile: 46-bed Emergency Department with an average daily census of approximately 140 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Holidays as scheduled
- Floating: Within the specialty, including the ED border area, as needed
- On-Call: Not required
Emergency Room RN Job Requirements
- Active Maryland or Compact Registered Nurse license at the time of submission
- At least 3 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers may be considered with 5 or more years of relevant experience
- Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association
- Current CPI, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications
- Strong emergency nursing assessment, prioritization, triage, and response skills
- Ability to care for patients across all age groups and float within the Emergency Department as needed
Emergency Department RN Responsibilities
- Perform rapid assessments, triage, stabilization, treatment, and ongoing reassessment of Emergency Department patients
- Care for patients presenting with chest pain, stroke, sepsis, cardiac arrest, trauma, respiratory illness, respiratory arrest, behavioral health concerns, overdose, and other emergent conditions
- Administer medications, blood products, IV therapies, procedural sedation, and emergency interventions according to established protocols
- Monitor and manage patients requiring ventilatory support, central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, vasopressors, and continuous sedation
- Recognize changes in patient condition and respond promptly to clinical deterioration, including cardiac and respiratory emergencies
- Provide safe, age-appropriate care for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
- Use specialized emergency equipment, including rapid infusers, trauma blood-warming equipment, neonatal warming equipment, and mechanical compression devices
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, laboratory services, rapid response teams, and other members of the care team
- Support patient and family education, advocacy, safety, and timely transitions of care
