Description

American Traveler is hiring an ER RN for a fast-paced community hospital emergency department requiring 2 years of ED experience and an active MD or Compact RN license.

Details

• General Emergency Department treating combined adult and pediatric patients across all age ranges from infant to geriatric
• Fast-paced ED setting with complex, multi-system diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:4, up to 1:5 for lower acuity patients
• Rotating night and evening shifts (3x12 or 4x12), primarily nights at this time
• Shift hours are 19:00-07:30 or 15:00-03:30
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required within specialty and to sister ED facilities as needed
• No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD state or Compact)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA only)
• NIHSS certification required
• CPI certification required (can be completed during onboarding)
• NRP and TNCC certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Experience with pediatrics, psychiatric emergencies, and respiratory conditions including BiPAP/CPAP and ventilator management
• Skilled in IV therapy, central line care, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
• Experience managing IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation
• Skilled in interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias and obtaining 12-lead EKGs
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Skilled in splinting and orthopedic care
• Proficient in isolation precautions/PPE and triage

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across all systems including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, psychiatric, and orthopedic presentations
• Facility is a STEMI and Stroke Certified center
• Manage acute conditions including CVA, sickle cell crisis, seizures, and psychiatric holds
• Identify and report signs of neglect or abuse
• Travelers are expected to float within scope with no restrictions
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise noted
• Returning former staff must have a 12-month break before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers must have at least a 6-month break from the health system before reapplying
• Maximum 7 days of RTO can be requested, with additional conditions if more than 4 consecutive days are taken
