Job Summary
Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurses (RNs) play a vital role in delivering urgent care to patients in critical situations. The ideal candidate must be prepared to handle diverse emergency scenarios for individuals of all ages. This role requires the ability to quickly and accurately assess incoming patients, prioritize their medical needs, and make decisive actions in a fast-paced environment. RNs in the ED will also be expected to provide specialized and innovative services tailored to the needs of trauma patients.
Responsibilities
Deliver compassionate and competent nursing care to patients in emergency situations.
Assess and prioritize injuries and medical needs of patients effectively.
Respond swiftly to a variety of trauma situations requiring immediate care.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to formulate effective nursing care plans.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff to ensure comprehensive care.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 18 months of nursing experience in an ED environment.
ED experience within the past six months is mandatory.
Demonstrated performance and professional practice in a clinical setting.
Strong clinical knowledge and analytical skills for formulating nursing care plans.
Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
Effective communication skills for interactions with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Required Hard Skills
Emergency Department experience
8 stroke CEUs
NIHSS certification
Education
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Certifications & Licensure
Valid state professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
4 hours of CEU Contact on Stroke required.
Work Schedule
Full-time night shift position.
36 hours per week.
Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
Holiday requirement: two winter holidays and one evening during the holiday season.
May float to the 12-bed satellite ED as needed.
