Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department position in Worcester, MA, requiring a permanent MA RN license and at least 18 months of ED experience.

Details

  • Work setting is a Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department within an academic teaching hospital
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, with an 11:00 PM start time that may flex up to four hours earlier or later based on urgent staffing needs only
  • Contract length options of 13 or 26 weeks available
  • 36 or 48 hours per week scheduling options available
  • Must be available to work any day of the week — no special scheduling accommodations can be made
  • Epic EMR experience is preferred
  • Telemetry monitoring is required in this unit

Requirements

  • Active, permanent MA RN license currently in hand is required
  • Minimum 18 months of ED experience required; 2+ years preferred
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • Preferred certifications: NIHSS and TNCC
  • Must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythms and manage dysrhythmias
  • Two references required for consideration, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher
  • Candidates must have a clear nursing license with no prior disciplinary actions

Additional Information

  • Two pass/fail exams are administered during orientation: a medication exam and a telemetry/EKG exam — each allows only one attempt, and failure of either results in immediate contract cancellation
  • Study materials are provided during the compliance process and facility-directed instruction (FDIs) to help prepare for both exams
  • Key skills include triage, care of ventilated patients, cardiac monitoring and emergency response, and psych/behavioral health ED experience
  • Up to 14 days of RTO may be submitted for review; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
  • One major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's) may be included in RTO; priority is given to candidates with minimal RTO and 26-week contracts
  • Candidates who have previously worked within this health system must have a 12-month separation before being eligible
  • Local candidates are accepted; RNs must reside more than 200 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
