Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a Level II Trauma Center position requiring 2+ years of combined adult/pediatric emergency department experience.

Details

  • General Emergency Department treating combined adult and pediatric populations in a Level II Trauma Center
  • 32-bed ED with average daily census of 120 and 1:4 patient ratios
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 or 3x12 hours (1900-0730)
  • Weekend shifts required as needed
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
  • Facility does not accommodate block scheduling
  • Cerner EMR experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license or ETA required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
  • Level I or Level II trauma experience required
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC (ENPC and NRP preferred)
  • AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted
  • Experience in cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and 12-lead EKG acquisition
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy skills including blood product administration, central line care, and starting IVs
  • Experience with emergency medications including IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation/paralytics, and procedural sedation
  • Neurological case experience including CVA, ICP monitoring, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
  • Orthopedic trauma case experience
  • Pediatric case experience across a broad range of conditions including asthma, burns, seizures, and abuse identification/reporting
  • Psychiatric case experience including acute psychosis, overdose, and managing violent or suicidal patients
  • Respiratory case experience including intubation, ventilator management, chest tube care, and ABG interpretation
  • Shock/trauma case experience including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
  • Triage and isolation precaution/PPE experience
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Acute care hospital with 280 staffed beds and Level II trauma designation
  • Scrub color is royal blue
  • Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
  • Previous PERM or PRN employees of the hospital system must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • Travel pairs are not accepted
  • RTO ideally limited to 5 days or fewer
  • Candidates must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • Floating is required of all travelers, potentially to affiliate hospitals nearby
