The shift is from 7 p.m. to 7:15 a.m., including a 60-minute unpaid lunch break. Rotating weekends are required. A high school diploma or GED is required. BLS certification is required. Phlebotomy certification is required. 12 lead EKG certification is required. Successful completion of the NHA Certified EKG technician examination and demonstration of competency in basic EKG interpretation are required. A minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital setting and patient care capacity is required. 1-2 years of experience in Telemetry or Electrocardiogram (EKG) is required. Basic computer literacy is preferred. Familiarity with EKG patterns, lead placement, and patient identification is essential. Experience with obtaining 12 lead EKG/ECG and cardiac monitor usage is necessary. Effective communication and teamwork skills are important. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to recognize various cardiac rhythms and artifacts. The role involves working with adults with a daily census of around 31 patients. Additional responsibilities include ensuring proper skin preparation for lead placement and knowledge of emergency rhythms. A commitment to patient safety and adherence to isolation precautions and PPE protocols is required.
