GLC On-The-Go is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Prattville, Alabama.
Join our team as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at a leading acute-care hospital in Prattville, AL. This is a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate and skilled RN to provide high-quality care in a dynamic environment. We welcome first-time travelers with at least 2 years of experience and Cerner experience.
Patient Types: You will encounter a diverse range of patients, including pediatrics, geriatrics, those with psychiatric needs, stroke patients, heart complications, sports injuries, and motor vehicle accidents. Pediatric experience is not required, as most pediatric cases are directed to a different facility.
Patient Ratios: The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4.
Required Certifications: Candidates must possess ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and CPI or similar certifications.
Skills Required: Proficiency in trach care, vent care, ICU drip care and maintenance, chest tube management, arterial line, CVL, PICC, midline, port, foley catheter insertion, splint/ortho device application and care, BiPAP/high-flow oxygen therapy, and continuous bladder irrigation is essential.
Support on the Unit: You will work alongside a Patient Care Technician (PCT), Unit Assistant, Charge Nurse (typically not assigned), ED MD, and 1 LPN at night (currently). Emergency Care Tech (paramedic) support is available from 11 AM to 11 PM.
Technology/Equipment: Familiarity with Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing systems, and Spacelabs monitors is beneficial.
Orientation: New hires will undergo 24 hours of classroom training followed by 24 hours on the unit. Rehires will have a different orientation based on their last date of employment.
Scheduling: The schedule includes a weekend rotation of every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month if on a block schedule. There is no on-call requirement, but you will be expected to work one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. Time-off requests can be approved for up to 7 days, excluding blackout dates.
Other Notes: Scrub color is flexible, and free employee parking is available in a lot behind the hospital.
