Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center in Springfield, MO, requiring a minimum of 1 year of ED experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma facility.

Details

  • Evening shift, 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM (15:00–03:00)
  • 13-week contract
  • 68-bed Emergency Department in a busy urban trauma center
  • Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center, Level 2 Stroke Center, and STEMI Center
  • Typical patient ratio of 4:1; ratios may vary based on census and surge conditions
  • High-acuity patient population with 200+ patients per day; trauma and pediatric cases common
  • EMR: Epic
  • Weekends required as needed by the facility
  • No on-call or float requirements
  • Block scheduling cannot be accommodated

Requirements

  • Active RN license — must hold a Missouri RN license or be eligible for Missouri licensure (MO or Compact state license accepted)
  • Valid U.S. Social Security Number required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS (all from AHA only), TNCC, and NIHSS (NIHSS must be obtained prior to start)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent ED experience in a Level 1 Trauma facility, OR minimum 2 years in a Level 2 Trauma facility; experience level must be clearly reflected on the resume
  • No gaps in employment of 90+ days within the past 12 months
  • Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. for the majority of the shift; kneeling, crouching, and crawling required minimally

Additional Information

  • Performs direct patient care for all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and patient comfort
  • Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
  • Black scrubs required; jeans and unprofessional attire are not permitted
  • Night shift orientation takes place on day shift; candidate must be available the full orientation week
  • RTO of up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; RTO will not be approved during the first week of the assignment
  • Only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but are subject to a reduced bill rate
  • Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts; after completion, a 1-year separation or reassignment outside the 50-mile radius is required before returning
