Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III Trauma Center Emergency Department, requiring 2 years of ED experience and a NY RN license in hand.

Details

  • 13-week assignment in a Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center Emergency Department
  • General Emergency Department serving combined adult and pediatric non-trauma and trauma patient populations
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
  • Weekend requirement of every other weekend (2 weekends of a 4-week posted schedule)
  • Floating required
  • Uses Epic EMR, Pyxis medication system, and SBAR communication method
  • 24-hour unit orientation provided

Requirements

  • Active NY RN license required in hand
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC
  • Preferred certifications: CPI and TCAR
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Experience in a 1:5 patient ratio setting required
  • Skills required include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, IV starts, continuous IV sedation, and IV vasopressor management
  • Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure required
  • Experience with CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and ortho-trauma required
  • Experience treating abdominal pain, asthma, burns, epiglottitis, head injury, hyperglycemia, infections, mental/behavioral health conditions, respiratory infections, seizures, and urinary tract infections required
  • Experience identifying and reporting abuse or neglect required
  • Experience with gunshot wounds and traumatic amputation required
  • Experience caring for ventilated patients required

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care across a broad range of adult and pediatric trauma and non-trauma presentations
  • Work within a Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center environment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered for the travel position
  • Previous employees must have at least 6 months since their last assignment within the health system to be eligible for rehire
  • Candidates with more than 10 days of requested time off will not be considered
  • Preferred additional skills include TCAR and triage experience
  • Preferred trauma experience includes Level I and Level II Trauma Center exposure
