Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ER experience and AHA-approved ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NIH certifications.

Details

• Work in the Emergency Department of a 137-bed acute care hospital with a Joint Commission accredited Primary Stroke Center
• 21-bed unit includes 12 telemetry beds, 3 behavioral health beds, and 5 fast track rooms
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Patient population includes all ages
• Treats common diagnoses including COPD, DKA, sepsis, cardiac emergencies, neurological emergencies, and stroke
• Uses emergency equipment and Cerner EHR
• Shift schedule from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM
• Every other weekend required with some holiday coverage
• Floating required on an as-needed basis
• No call requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and de-escalation training (HWC, CPI, or MAB), all AHA-approved
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• ADN required
• Experience in emergency nursing, trauma, resuscitation, IV therapy, IV drips, oxygen demand support, blood products, and basic telemetry/EKG required
• Psych ER or emergency medicine experience preferred
• Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
• Active Nursys licensure verification required at time of consideration
• Copies of required certifications must be provided

Additional Information

• Provide fast-paced emergency nursing care in a dynamic, team-oriented environment requiring strong multi-tasking skills
• Report to the ED Nurse Manager
• Weekly orientation held on Mondays
• Scrubs of any color accepted; open-toed footwear, spandex pants, and sweatshirts not permitted
• Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility
• Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
• Must not be employed elsewhere on a full-time basis
