Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Dept RN for a Level II trauma center with a high-volume ED (100,000+ visits) requiring an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a 101-bed Emergency Care Center within a hospital setting
  • Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center serving a high-volume ED with over 100,000 annual visits
  • Patient ratios typically 4:1 for medical patients, up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
  • Techs support cardiac monitoring, internal processing, triage, and unit clerk functions on both day and night shifts
  • Uses Baxter pumps and GE monitors for patient care
  • Charting is done in Cerner
  • Night shift schedule from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
  • Every other weekend required with scheduling based on departmental needs rather than block scheduling
  • No floating outside the ED, but must be flexible to float to all sections within the ED

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year in an ER setting required
  • Prior experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ visits) preferred
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, and NIHSS prior to start date
  • ENPC certification required within 90 days of hire
  • Strong teamwork mentality with the ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
  • Flexibility to work across all areas of the ED

  • Provide emergency nursing care across all sections of a high-volume ED, delivering a strong patient experience through AIDET principles and consistent communication
  • Maintain updated patient boards and provide regular updates to patients throughout their visit
  • Join a department known for teamwork, welcoming personalities, and service to a multicultural community representing over 120 languages
  • Navy scrubs required as part of the uniform dress code
  • Attendance policy and unit-specific guidelines provided on first day
  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as no local candidates will be considered
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
