Thrive Staffing is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Salem, Virginia.

Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Information

The Emergency Department features a total of 27 beds and is supported by a staff of 50 Registered Nurses and 25 Medics.

General Information

During the day shift, staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 5 RNs, and 2-3 medics, increasing by 4-5 RNs around 11 AM and adding 1-2 more RNs by 3 PM. The night shift maintains a consistent level with 1 charge nurse, 5 RNs, and 2-3 medics. The patient ratio in this unit is typically between 4-6 patients per nurse.

Typical Procedures Performed

  • Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI)
  • Sepsis interventions
  • Stroke protocol including tPA administration
  • Central line placement
  • Care of psychiatric patients
  • Transfers to other facilities as per EMTALA

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Completion of 2-3 travel assignments
  • 2-3 years of Emergency Room experience

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in high acuity and fast-paced emergency rooms with high patient volume
  • Experience managing patient ratios of 5:1

Personality Fit

The ideal candidate will be relaxed, easy-going, friendly, team-oriented, and respectful.

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • TNCC preferred
  • ENPC, NRP, NIH certifications are a plus

No floating required.

Dress Code

Scrub colors are navy blue or white.

Scheduling

Weekends consist of four weekend shifts (Friday or Saturday for nights; Saturday or Sunday for days) within a four-week scheduling period.
