Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level 1 trauma teaching facility, requiring a TX or compact RN license and 2+ years of ED experience.

Details

• Level 1 trauma teaching facility emergency department in downtown Austin
• 53-bed unit with an annual volume of 55,000-60,000 patients
• Staffed with 2 charge nurses and supported by a physician and nursing residency program
• Team-based staffing model including nursing, clerks, transporters, and PCTs
• Boarding or holding of inpatients likely due to high volume
• Uses Cerner EHR system
• Night shift schedule from 18:45-07:15
• 13-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS certification required (AHA)
• ACLS certification required (AHA)
• PALS certification required (AHA)
• Current license and primary source verification required within 30 days prior to start
• Nursys verification required within 30 days prior to start
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a high-stress environment
• Strong critical thinking and decisive judgment skills required

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established ED policies, procedures, and protocols
• Implement and monitor patient care plans while coordinating care across disciplines
• Communicate and record patient condition changes as appropriate
• Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team
• Follow standard precautions using appropriate personal protective equipment
• Navy top and bottom scrubs required
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Radius rules apply and may affect pay rate for local candidates
