Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level 1 trauma teaching facility, requiring a TX or compact RN license and 2+ years of experience.

Details

• Level 1 trauma teaching facility located in downtown Austin
• 53-bed emergency department with an annual volume of 55,000-60,000 patients
• Staffing includes 2 charge nurses along with a nursing, clerk, transporter, and PCT mix
• Physician and nursing residency program in place
• Holding and boarding of inpatients likely
• Uses Cerner EHR system
• Night shift schedule from 18:45 to 07:15
• 13-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• BLS certification required (AHA) within 30 days of hire
• ACLS certification required within 180 days of hire
• PALS certification required within 180 days of hire
• Level 1 trauma or academic teaching facility experience preferred
• Cerner EHR experience preferred
• Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care in the emergency department in accordance with established policies and protocols
• Coordinate patient care across disciplines and carry out physician and nursing orders
• Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team
• Work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment requiring strong critical thinking and independent judgment
• Nursing staff required to wear navy top and bottom scrubs
• Radius rule applies, allowing local candidates at a reduced rate depending on distance from the facility
