Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level II Trauma Emergency Department position requiring 3 years of ED experience and willingness to work charge.

Details

• Level II Trauma Center Emergency Department, combined Adult/Pediatric population
• 48-bed unit that can flex up to 62 beds using hall beds as needed
• Regular ED patient ratio never exceeds 1:4; hold assignments may include 4:1 for progressive holds and 5:1 for medical holds
• ED averages 6.6 behavioral health patients per day
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Cerner charting system required
• Floating required to other units within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Must be willing to work in a charge nurse capacity

Requirements

• Active RN license (IN or Compact) required in hand prior to start
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC (NIHSS preferred)
• Minimum 3 years of recent Emergency Department experience required
• At least Level II trauma center experience required
• Experience with combined adult/pediatric emergency department required
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Proficient in phlebotomy and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and IV vasopressors required
• Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Skilled in CPAP/BiPAP management and care of ventilated patients
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Nursing degree must be from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care to a combined adult and pediatric patient population in a high-acuity trauma setting
• Manage patients presenting with psychiatric emergencies, pediatric trauma, respiratory distress, and cardiac dysrhythmias
• Work within a Level II Trauma Center that is also STEMI and Stroke certified
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Indiana residents are not accepted as local candidates for this position
• Any current or former IU Health PRN or permanent employee must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travelers who have accrued 12 months of employment within IU Health must take a designated break to reset eligibility
