Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Dept position requiring Level II trauma experience and a minimum of 3 years of ED nursing experience.

Details

• Level II Trauma Center with a combined adult/pediatric Emergency Department
• 48-bed unit that can flex up to 62 beds using hall beds as needed
• Staffing ratio never exceeds 1:4 for regular ED patients, with hold assignments at 4:1 for progressive holds and 5:1 for medical holds
• Unit averages 6.6 behavioral health patients per day
• Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 11:00 to 23:30
• Charge nurse responsibilities required
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Cerner charting system used

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC
• Preferred certification: NIHSS
• Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department experience required
• At least Level II trauma center experience required
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
• Phlebotomy and IV starting/maintenance skills required
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and IV vasopressors required
• Procedural sedation administration and monitoring experience required
• CPAP/BiPAP management and care of ventilated patients required
• Isolation precautions/PPE experience required
• Nursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
• 2 supervisor references required

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care across a combined adult and pediatric patient population
• Manage acute psychiatric, pediatric, respiratory, cardiac, and trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• IN residents are not accepted as local candidates for this position
• Past IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must take a designated break to reset eligibility before their year mark
