Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Emergency Department travel assignment in Olympia, WA, requiring at least 2 years of ER experience and a valid WA or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in an Emergency Department at a 107-bed hospital in Olympia, WA
- ED unit consists of 8 rooms and 3 hallway beds
- Patient population spans neonate to geriatric with acuity ranging from clinic-level to critical
- Patient ratio is 1:4 on both day and night shifts
- Broad ER skillset required, including ETOH/substance abuse, cardiac, and orthopedic cases; facility is in the process of becoming a stroke center
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and GE monitors
- Telemetry monitoring available at bedside and at the nurses' station
- 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
- Every-other-weekend rotation required
- No on-call requirements
- No floating required
- 6-week scheduling cycle
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Mental Health/MHS telemetry exam required; CPI or MOAB preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
- Traveler Telemetry Competency exam must be completed and passed prior to start
- COVID vaccination required
- At least one supervisor-level reference required for consideration; a second supervisor-level reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above) will be required prior to start
Additional Information
- Manager interviews are conducted for this position
- Unit support includes CNA/techs on varying shifts covering splints, EKGs, and lab draws; a free-floating charge nurse; a resource nurse available most days 9a–9p; RT available 24/7; and hospitalist coverage 24/7
- Orientation includes 4 hours with a clinical educator covering badge setup, login, unit tour, and policies, followed by 2–3 precepted shifts and approximately 2–3 additional weeks working alongside a preceptor to acclimate to unit flow and resources
- Navy scrubs required
- Free parking available on-site
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
