Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position requiring Level II trauma experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma, Children's Hospital, teaching, short-term acute care facility with 554 staffed beds
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
• 36 or 48 hour shifts available (48 hours limited to travelers with both Level I trauma and travel experience)
• Approximately 60%-80% of ED patients are admitted, with many rooms functioning as ED Holding
• Currently experiencing an increased number of admit holds
• Patient to nurse ratio of 1:5
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Scheduled for weekends as needed (weekend days are Saturday/Sunday, weekend nights are Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to Peds ED is optional; floating to Adult PCUs expected based on staffing needs; potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma
• No block scheduling accommodations available

Requirements

• Active RN license (New Mexico or Compact) - pending license accepted at submission
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC (TNCC must be obtained prior to signing)
• RQI certifications are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required (candidates with 1.5 years may be reviewed)
• Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience strongly preferred
• Travel nursing experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers with 2+ years of Level I trauma experience may be considered
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management, triage, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Preferred skills include arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, ventilated patient care, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation, and trauma/resuscitation experience
• Non-local driver's license required on file

Additional Information

• Administer medications including IV medications following the seven medication rights, and document and communicate clinical findings
• Must work 2 of the 3 holiday bundles: Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, or New Year's Eve & New Year's Day
• Christmas RTO is not permitted
• No locals within 100 miles of the facility are accepted
• RTO requests greater than 7 days require approval, with a maximum of 7 days and 1 holiday preferred
• No RTO permitted during the first 7 days or last day of the contract
• COVID vaccine is optional but the facility must report vaccination numbers; candidates must upload vaccine series or declination
• Facility may call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment
• Contracts and extensions must be a minimum of 10 weeks
• A 6-month system break is required after 1 year or 4 consecutive assignments, whichever comes first
• Former staff must have a 12-month separation before returning
• Scrub color is black; scrubs are not provided
• No parking fee
