Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Level II trauma experience and NM or compact RN license.

  • Level I Trauma, Children's Hospital, Teaching Hospital environment
  • Emergency Department unit with a high volume of admitted patients, approximately 60%-80% of the ED
  • Many ED rooms function as ED Holding due to increased admit holds
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Evening shift, 3x12 hours (13:00-01:30)
  • 36 or 48 hour contracts available, with 48 hours reserved for travelers with both Level I trauma and travel experience
  • Weekend scheduling as needed, including weekend days (Sat/Sun) and weekend nights (Fri/Sat/Sun)
  • Floating to Peds ED is optional; floating to Adult PCUs is expected based on staffing needs; potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

  • ,
  • Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, may pend at time of submission
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC (TNCC must be obtained before submission)
  • RQI certifications not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required (1.5 years may be considered)
  • Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience strongly preferred
  • Travel experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers with 2+ years of Level I trauma experience may be considered
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation/management
  • Experience with trauma/resuscitation care
  • Proficiency in triage and isolation precautions/PPE

  • Provide direct emergency care including medication administration (via the seven medication rights), IV therapy, and documentation of clinical findings
  • Must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility to qualify as a traveler; local candidates within 100 miles are not accepted
  • Non-local driver's license required on file
  • Holiday coverage required for 2 of 3 holiday bundles (Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, NYE & NYD); Christmas RTO is not permitted
  • RTO of more than 7 days requires approval; no RTO allowed during the first or last 7 days of the contract
  • Scrub color: black (not provided by facility)
  • No parking fee at this facility
  • First-time travelers may be considered if they have 2+ years of Level I trauma experience, though travel experience is strongly preferred
  • Prior travel experience is generally required for this ED assignment
  • A 6-month system break is required after 1 year or 4 consecutive assignments, whichever comes first
  • Former staff must have a 12-month separation before returning
