Travel Nursing Job Details

- Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
- Shift Options: 11:00 a.m.–11:30 p.m. or 3:00 p.m.–3:30 a.m.
- Weekend Coverage: Required
- Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Typical Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Emergency Department Volume: Approximately 140 patients per day
- Department Resources: 40 exam rooms, vertical care spaces, multidisciplinary clinical support, and rapid response responsibilities throughout the facility
- Floating: May be required to support affiliated units
Emergency Department RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience within the past 3 years, including experience caring for both adult and pediatric patients
- Current Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license
- Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Current TNCC certification
- Epic charting experience required
- Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Strong telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
- Successful completion of a telemetry assessment before the start of the assignment
- Ability to care for patients with complex medical, behavioral health, neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory, traumatic, and surgical emergencies
Emergency Department RN Responsibilities
- Provide rapid assessment, triage, treatment, and ongoing evaluation for patients presenting with emergent and urgent conditions
- Care for adult and pediatric patients experiencing trauma, stroke, cardiac events, respiratory distress, overdose, behavioral health crises, sepsis, burns, neurological emergencies, and other high-acuity conditions
- Administer emergency medications, blood products, procedural sedation, IV therapies, vasopressors, and continuous infusions according to clinical protocols
- Perform and support emergency procedures, including IV placement, phlebotomy, 12-lead ECG acquisition, airway management, intubation assistance, chest tube care, central line management, splinting, and wound care
- Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias, acute deterioration, multisystem organ dysfunction, and life-threatening changes in patient condition
- Monitor ventilated patients and those receiving BiPAP/CPAP, sedation, or paralytic medications
- Apply appropriate isolation precautions and infection prevention practices
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
- Participate in emergency response activities throughout the facility as needed
- Provide compassionate, organized care while maintaining accurate documentation in Epic
