Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift assignment requiring active NY licensure and recent Epic experience.

Details

• 29-bed ED with 4-bed Behavioral Health unit and 7-bed Fast Track, all of which can swing to ER beds
• Level 3 Trauma Center in a busy community hospital setting
• Treats adult and pediatric patients ranging from neonate to geriatric
• Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:5, sometimes higher depending on volume
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 36 hours per week
• Rotating schedule with weekend and holiday requirements, no on-call duties
• No block scheduling available
• Uses Epic EMR and Pyxis medication system
• Special equipment includes Philips MP40 monitors and Alaris IV pumps
• Nurses perform their own IV starts, EKGs, and respiratory treatments
• May be responsible for boarded, psychiatric, or COVID patients within general assignment
• Respiratory therapy and anesthesia support available 24/7

Requirements

• Active NY RN license or proof of pending application required at time of consideration
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience and 1 year of ED specialty experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC (TNCC must be active or proof of class provided prior to start)
• Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years required
• Charge RN experience preferred
• Prior travel experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care to a diverse patient population including trauma, behavioral health, and boarded patients
• Supported by CNAs/PCTs, unit clerks, crisis clinicians, and advanced practice providers staffed throughout the day
• Orientation is 20 hours for short contracts and 24 hours for 13-week contracts
• Dress code includes navy blue or white scrubs, closed-toe shoes, and no artificial nails
• Strict no cell phone or earbud policy while on duty
• Reliable personal transportation strongly recommended due to lack of public transit access
• Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires from November through April
• First-time travelers may be considered
