ER Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatric & Oncology Travel Nursing

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,470–$2,600
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse contract
• Location: Asheville, North Carolina
• Start Date: September 24, 2026
• Duration: 8 weeks
• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week; 48 hours guaranteed
• Weekend Requirement: Six weekend shifts, including two Saturdays
• Orientation: Four-hour hospital orientation followed by an eight-hour shift on the unit
• Unit: 19-bed pediatric and oncology unit serving pediatric and oncology patient populations
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:3 to 1:5
• Charting and Equipment: Cerner electronic medical record and Alaris pumps
• Additional Scheduling Information: Requested time off and special scheduling accommodations are not available for this assignment

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in North Carolina
• At least 1 year of recent acute-care nursing experience
• Recent pediatric hospital nursing experience
• Pediatric oncology nursing experience strongly preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• APHON certification or appropriate pediatric oncology qualifications required for oncology assignments
• Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and meet the required weekend schedule
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication

Pediatric and Oncology RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to pediatric and oncology patients in an acute-care environment
• Complete comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized plans of care, and evaluate responses to treatment
• Administer medications and therapies while monitoring for adverse reactions and changes in patient condition
• Recognize and respond promptly to clinical deterioration and urgent patient-care needs
• Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapists, patient care technicians, families, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation in Cerner and follow unit and hospital policies
• Support pediatric oncology patients and families through complex treatments and changing care needs
• Float to designated areas, including PICU and NICU, as needed and within competency
• Follow department dress standards, including navy blue or white scrub tops
