Description

American Traveler is hiring an ER RN for a Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring TNCC certification and at least 2 years of ED experience with Level II trauma background.

Details

• Emergency Department setting within a Level I Trauma, teaching hospital
• Approximately 60%-80% of ED patients are admitted, with many rooms functioning as ED Holding
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• 36 or 48 hour contracts available, with 48 hours reserved for travelers with both Level I trauma and travel experience
• Weekend scheduling as needed, including Friday-Sunday nights and Saturday-Sunday days
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to Adult PCUs expected based on staffing needs; floating to Peds ED, ED Holding, and Trauma optional/DOE
• Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, may pend at time of submission
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC (TNCC must be obtained before submission)
• RQI certifications not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, will consider 1.5 years
• Level II trauma experience required, Level I trauma experience strongly preferred
• Travel experience strongly preferred, though candidates with 2+ years Level I trauma experience may be considered without prior travel experience
• Charge experience preferred
• Skills preferred include IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, ventilator patient care, IV sedation/vasopressors, procedural sedation, and trauma-related care (CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, TBI, gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation)
• Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, and triage required

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care including medication administration via the seven rights, with focus on trauma/resuscitation cases
• Facility currently experiencing an increased number of admit holds
• Must work 2 out of 3 designated holiday bundles (Thanksgiving/day after, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day); Christmas RTO no longer permitted
• RTO requests greater than 7 days require approval; no RTO during first or last 7 days of contract
• COVID vaccine optional, but facility requires reporting of vaccine status or declination
• Scrub color is black or not provided
• No candidates within 100 miles of the facility will be accepted
• First-time travelers may be considered if they have 2+ years of Level I trauma experience, though travel experience is strongly preferred
• Former staff must have a 12-month separation before returning
