Emergency Department Registered Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Texas
• At least 1 year of professional registered nursing experience
• Emergency department or emergency room nursing experience required; freestanding emergency department experience preferred
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills
• Comfort working independently in a focused emergency care environment
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, rotating weekends, and the full travel nursing contract
• Commitment to inclusive, respectful, and team-oriented patient care

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, timely, and compassionate nursing care to emergency department patients
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and promptly identify changes in patient condition
• Initiate and maintain IV access and administer treatments as ordered
• Perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs according to emergency department protocols
• Use point-of-care laboratory equipment and accurately document clinical findings in Meditech
• Collaborate with providers and nursing teammates to support efficient emergency patient flow
• Prioritize care for patients with varying levels of acuity in a fast-paced emergency setting
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation while following emergency department policies and safety standards
• Contribute to a helpful, inclusive, and team-focused workplace culture
