Emergency Department Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent Emergency Department or ER nursing experience
• Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
• Proficiency with triage, Emergency Severity Index (ESI), and emergency nursing assessments
• Strong experience with medication administration and management of critically ill patients
• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced emergency care environment while maintaining patient safety and quality care
• Excellent communication, adaptability, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills

Emergency Room Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients presenting with a wide range of emergent conditions
• Perform triage and Emergency Severity Index (ESI) assessments to prioritize patients according to acuity
• Complete emergency assessments, ongoing reassessments, and timely clinical documentation
• Administer medications and monitor patients for therapeutic response and adverse reactions
• Care for critically ill, trauma, and stroke patients using evidence-based emergency nursing practices
• Perform IV insertion, EKGs, cardiac monitoring, and emergency stabilization procedures
• Assist with moderate sedation and other emergency procedures as appropriate
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate efficient, compassionate patient care
• Maintain composure, flexibility, and clear communication during rapidly changing clinical situations
