Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position in Wichita, KS, requiring a minimum of 1 year of acute care ED experience along with TNCC and PALS certifications.
Details
- 52-bed Emergency Department within a large hospital setting
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 13-week contract
- Average patient ratio of 3:1, with low acuity areas at 5:1 and pediatric cases managed via team nursing
- Patient population includes adult and pediatric patients requiring IV starts, medication administration, sedation, and pediatric care
- Alaris infusion pumps used on the unit
- EMR: Meditech/CPN (experience preferred)
- Unit staffing per pod includes 1 charge nurse, 4 nurses, 1 tech, 1 unit clerk, 1 physician, and 1 midlevel provider
Requirements
- Active KS RN license or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIH Stroke Scale, and CPI (or accepted equivalent such as SAMA, MAB, or ACPMA)
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care hospital ED experience
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- All certifications must remain valid for at least 30 days beyond the contract start date
Additional Information
- ENPC certification is preferred but not required
- Meditech EMR experience is preferred
- Experience working in large, fast-paced facilities is preferred
- Medication scanning is required for every patient medication administration
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
- This is a high-acuity, fast-paced ER environment; candidates should be adaptable, self-sufficient, and comfortable working independently
