ER RN Job Requirements

• Active RN license in Texas or a compact state
• At least 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred
• Current BLS certification from AHA required
• Current ACLS certification from AHA required
• Current PALS certification from AHA required
• Current TNCC certification required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Ability to complete Emergency Department-specific orientation and competency validation
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and prioritization skills

Emergency Department Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care using the full nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Care for patients with routine, complex, and rapidly changing needs in the Emergency Department
• Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols
• Monitor patient responses, including side effects and treatment effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care delivered accurately and thoroughly
• Address the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Provide patient and family education, including identifying resources and next steps in care
• Collaborate with the care team and support safe delegation when appropriate
• Contribute to a high-performing, patient-centered Emergency Department environment
