Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for an Emergency Department position in Denver, CO, requiring at least 1 year of acute care ED experience and active TNCC certification.

Details

  • Work setting is a hospital Emergency Department with 24 beds and a staff of 45
  • Day shift staffing includes 4 RNs, 1 charge nurse, 2 mid-shift RNs, 1 mid-shift unit clerk, and 1 EMT; night shift includes 4 RNs, 1 charge nurse, and 1 EMT
  • Patient ratio is 4:1, with 5:1 during surge periods
  • GE monitors are used for patient monitoring
  • EMR system is Meditech
  • Common procedures include port access, IV starts, venipuncture, nasal wash, point-of-care testing (troponin, lactic acid, urine dip), EKG, and Foley placement
  • Shift is 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM (nights)
  • Contract duration is 13 weeks

Requirements

  • Active CO or compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIH Stroke Scale, and ENPC
  • CPI certification required for ER units (SAMA, MAB, or ACPMA may be accepted in lieu of CPI based on facility requirements)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent acute care ED experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of total clinical experience required for this placement
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
  • US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
  • One professional reference required
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible

Additional Information

  • Preferred certifications include CEN, CPEN, and ultrasound-guided IV (US IV) competency
  • Experience in a pediatric ED is preferred
  • Ideal candidates are caring, competent, and communicative, with a willingness to go above and beyond
  • All certifications must be from AHA or ARC and must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
