Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active New Mexico RN license or current compact state RN license
• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
• Minimum of 1 year of recent nursing experience required; Emergency Department experience preferred
• Current BLS certification from AHA
• Current ACLS certification from AHA
• Current PALS certification from AHA
• TNCC or ATCN certification required
• CPI / de-escalation certification preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to provide age-appropriate care across a diverse patient population

Emergency Department Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, efficient, and compassionate emergency nursing care to patients of all ages
• Complete accurate initial assessments and establish priorities based on patient condition and psychosocial needs
• Reassess patients regularly and identify changes that require intervention
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
• Make sound clinical decisions based on patient findings and outcomes
• Provide timely interventions and document care clearly and thoroughly
• Support patient and family education, including discharge planning and follow-up guidance
• Perform point-of-care testing and other assigned clinical procedures
• Collaborate respectfully with physicians, peers, and support staff to maintain a positive care environment
• Adapt to a high-acuity, fast-moving Emergency Department while maintaining professionalism and quality standards
