Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a Level II Trauma Center night shift assignment, requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and a current CA RN license.

Details

• 16-week assignment in a Level II Trauma Center Emergency Department treating combined adult/pediatric patients
• Night shift schedule (3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required (Sunday not considered part of the weekend)
• Floating required based on facility needs; Tele and MS/Tele travelers may float to DOU within scope of practice
• STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
• Meditech charting system preferred but not required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, CPI or MAB, NIHSS, PALS (TNCC preferred)
• Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
• Travel experience required
• Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation/management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, and multisystem organ dysfunction management
• Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial line, central line, and blood product administration
• Experience managing ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube insertion, ABG interpretation, and intubation
• Skilled in neuro-trauma care including CVA, ICP monitoring, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury management
• Experience treating psychiatric and behavioral health emergencies, including suicidal and acutely psychotic patients
• Experience managing pediatric and adult trauma cases, including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Skilled in orthopedic trauma care including splinting and management
• Knowledge of isolation precautions, PPE, and triage protocols

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive emergency care across adult and pediatric trauma, medical, and psychiatric cases
• Manage high-acuity patients including CVA, sepsis, burns, and drug overdoses
• Must submit RTO requests upfront as part of initial consideration; excessive time off may not be approved
• Holiday time off is unlikely to be approved due to unit needs
• No blocked schedules or 48-hour contracts accepted
• Travel pairs accepted, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Former permanent employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 365 days before returning as a traveler
• Cancellation after acceptance may result in DNR status, so full commitment is required
